FAQ

Answers to the questions professionals and users ask us most often.

What is LumbaCure®?

LumbaCure® is the first lumbo-pelvic arthromotor: a robotic seat that moves the pelvis and lower back through 6 simultaneous degrees of freedom. It is designed to preserve, regain and maintain mobility, in passive or active mode.

What happens during a session?

The user sits on the device and a programme is selected. LumbaCure® then generates progressive, reproducible lumbo-pelvic trajectories. Preventive programmes usually last 10 to 15 minutes.

What is the difference between passive and active mode?

In passive mode, the user makes no voluntary effort: the device creates the movement. In active mode, the user performs exercises set by a programme or a practitioner at the same time, with the robotic movement as a base.

Is it a traction or decompression table?

No. LumbaCure® does not pull on the spine. It guides the pelvis in several directions at once (rotations, tilts, translations), with no forced manipulation.

How is it different from an exercise ball or a massage chair?

An exercise ball asks the user to create and control the movement themselves, which is hard when they are in pain or wary of moving. A massage chair works on the surface. LumbaCure® genuinely mobilises the lumbo-pelvic region along programmed, precise trajectories that are identical from one session to the next.

Who designs and distributes LumbaCure®?

LumbaCure® is an innovation from the Belgian company ODIX. It is distributed in France by LumbaCure France — SP Innovations MEDTECH.

Who is LumbaCure® for?

A wide audience: rehabilitation patients, employees exposed to MSDs, athletes and older adults. The professional adapts the programme to each user’s profile.

Are there any precautions?

LumbaCure® does not replace medical care. If you have a specific condition, recent surgery or any doubt, ask a healthcare professional before starting. The professional sets the programme to suit each user.

Is passive mobilisation useful? Isn’t active movement recommended?

The two work together. Passive mobilisation gently gets someone who is in pain or wary of moving back into motion; active mode then adds exercises. LumbaCure® fits into a pathway aimed at a return to independent activity.

Does LumbaCure® replace the physiotherapist?

No. It is a complementary tool. It delivers regular, reproducible movement throughout the session while the practitioner observes, assesses and adapts the treatment.

Has LumbaCure® been clinically evaluated?

Yes. A prospective, randomised, controlled pilot study was run at Jessa Hospital (Hasselt, Belgium) from June 2024 to June 2025, registered as NCT06662032. It observed trends favouring LumbaCure® on functional recovery, pain and pain catastrophising.

Are these results final?

No. This is an exploratory pilot study and its results are not yet published in a peer-reviewed journal. The primary endpoint favoured LumbaCure® without reaching statistical significance (p = 0.101).

Does someone need to supervise the whole session?

The level of supervision depends on the programme and the user’s profile. It is agreed with your organisation at set-up, following the manufacturer’s instructions for use.

Which organisations can use it?

Physiotherapy practices, rehabilitation centres and PM&R departments, companies and occupational health services, senior residences, sports clubs and gyms.

How much does LumbaCure® cost?

The price depends on the configuration and how you acquire it (purchase or financing). It is quoted after a first conversation: request a demonstration or ask us to call you back.

Is funding available?

Funding options depend on your activity and situation, particularly for MSD prevention projects. Contact us to discuss your project.

How can I see the device?

Request a demonstration, ask for a call back or message us on WhatsApp: your request goes straight to our sales coordinator, who will get back to you to arrange a presentation tailored to your organisation.
